Исследование выполнено на материале речей Юлии Тимошенко в период с 2017 по 2019 год. ... : The article is made in the framework of political linguistics and is devoted to the study of the characteristics of the evaluation metaphor in the pre-election discourse of a politician. The study of evaluation metaphors within the linguo-personological approach helps to consider metaphor as an effective means of influence that helps a politician fight competitors, clarify his/her political concept and find voters’ support. The study is carried out on the basis of the speeches of Yulia Tymoshenko in the period from 2017 to 2019. The conducted research shows the role of evaluation metaphors in the actualization of agonality, the integration and orientation of the pre-election discourse of this politician. Evaluation metaphors with a negative meaning are used by Y. Tymoshenko to combat political rivals and clarify the main aspects of her political platform. Metaphors with a positive meaning are used by the politician only for searching like-minded people. ...
